I'm Safe Here.

She was staring in horror at the bodies in front of her. The one man standing was walking slowly towards her. His face clouded over with worry.

"Its okay now. Your save, love." He said gently, barely above a whisper.

"I know." She was shaking slightly out of fear and her voice was no louder than his. "Say something. Talk about anything." She closed her eyes for a minute. "Just so I can get these pictures out of my head for a minute to think." She begged.

He caught her up in his arms, holding her close. He ran a hand through her soft black hair that reached down to the middle of her back. "Shall I talk about the night?" He whispered quietly into her ear.

At his touch, her fear leaked away. Her eyelids slowly opened, revealing her baby blue eyes. "Or shall I talk about the moon and the stars that sparkle in your eyes?" His thumb traced the bone around her right eye.

"Or shall I talk about roses?" His thumb traced a path towards her lips where his thumb rested on her lower lip. "And my need to taste the rose petals?" His lips touched hers.

He was gentle at first, soothing her terrified mind, just reminding her that the danger was gone. And that she was safe in his arms. He pulled her closer, and she gave in. She needed him like she needed air. And he needed her like he needed the magic that ran through his veins to keep him alive, for her.

Before her, he wondered why he had even lasted this long in his world. He could never find a reason. But now he had a reason. The reason being: his long lost princess. His bride. And though she doesn't yet know it, his child that she carries.
